About the Volunteer Program

The Kuzaa Volunteer Program is a platform for individuals passionate about improving maternal health, and by proxy child health. Volunteers can help raise awareness, reduce stigma, and support innovative solutions to address challenges facing pregnant women and new mothers in low- and middle-income countries.

This 3 to 12 months program offers a meaningful way to drive change, gain valuable professional experience, and make a lasting impact on maternal health in low -and middle-income countries.

Volunteer Program Roles

Our volunteers will work collaboratively in one or more of the following activities:

Engage in research on maternal health.

Requirements:

  • Background in health, science or social science-related field.
  • Interest in maternal, newborn, infant, and child health research.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, collaboration, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and adapt to changes.
  • Experience with quantitative and/or qualitative data analysis research tools is a plus.

Help Kuzaa spread awareness and reduce stigma around maternal health by crafting compelling and engaging content for our social media platforms.

Requirements:

    • Creativity and experience in graphic design or video editing.
    • Strong understanding of social media trends and platforms.
    • Excellent communication skills with attention to detail.
  • Prior experience in content creation is a bonus.

Write impactful articles, blogs, and newsletters to educate and inspire audiences on maternal health topics and Kuzaa’s initiatives.

Requirements:

  • Excellent writing and storytelling skills.
  • Ability to conduct research and translate complex ideas into relatable content.
  • Experience in blogging, journalism, or health-related writing preferred.
  • Strong editing and proofreading skills.
  • Enthusiasm for maternal health advocacy.

Champion maternal health awareness in your community by advocating for stigma-free support and health education.

Requirements:

    • Passion for social work and health advocacy.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to engage with diverse groups and communities.
  • Experience in health outreach or education is an advantage.

As an App/Chatbot Development Volunteer, you will play a crucial role in building and enhancing digital tools to support Kuzaa’s mission of improving maternal health. This role offers the opportunity to develop and apply technical skills in app and chatbot development, while directly contributing to innovative solutions for maternal health awareness and support.

Requirements:

  • Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, JavaScript, or relevant app development frameworks.
  • Experience in chatbot development using tools like Dialogflow, Rasa, or similar platforms.
  • Understanding of user-centered design principles and mobile app development best practices.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, including researchers and advocates.
  • Strong interest in maternal health and leveraging technology for social impact.

As a Fundraising and Events Programming Volunteer, you will focus on securing resources and organizing impactful events to support Kuzaa’s mission. This role offers an opportunity to develop skills in fundraising, event planning, and stakeholder engagement while contributing to maternal health advocacy.

Requirements:

  • Strong interest in maternal health and social advocacy.
  • Excellent communication, networking, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in fundraising or event planning (preferred but not mandatory).
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Familiarity with budgeting, grant writing, or sponsorship management is an added advantage.

Yes! But it is open to only individuals of African descent regardless of where they live and work in the world.

While the program does not offer financial compensation, volunteers receive certificates of participation, mentorship, skill-building opportunities, and access to personal development programs.

Yes. Depending on the assignment, we offer both in-person and remote volunteering opportunities to ensure flexibility for all participants.
