Creating Awareness and Revolutionizing Maternal Healthcare by Research & Technology.

About Kuzaa

Kuzaa is dedicated to creating awareness and revolutionizing maternal healthcare by leveraging cutting-edge technologies to address perinatal health challenges.

We advocate for the empowerment of pregnant women and mothers worldwide, particularly in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), because they need support and care for a healthy and fulfilling motherhood journey.

We aim to promote awareness of maternal health through interdisciplinary collaboration, evidence-based research, and community outreach.

What is Maternal Mental Health?

Maternal mental health refers to a mother’s overall emotional, social, and mental well-being, both during and after pregnancy (Policy Center for Maternal Mental Health).

Common mental health conditions women may experience during pregnancy and after birth include perinatal depression and anxiety (PDA).

These conditions range from mild to severe and may require specialized treatment. Pregnancy and postpartum psychosis are the most severe and should be treated as medical emergencies.

Maternal Mental Health issues can affect any pregnant woman or new mother. Risk factors include a history of mental health problems, biological factors, lack of support, adverse childhood experiences, domestic abuse, financial concerns, and traumatic events like birth trauma.

To raise awareness and educate the public on maternal mental health, we held a series of programs such as Workshops, Focus Group Discussions and an Art and Design Competition.

Maternal Mortality in LMICs

95% of maternal deaths occur in Low- and Middle-Income Countries (LMICs), highlighting the urgent need for better mental health resources and support (WHO).

Suicide Risk

Suicide is a leading cause of maternal mortality in the first year postpartum in high-income countries (Policy Center for Maternal Mental Health).

We are a team of professionals, researchers and stakeholders working together to create awareness of Maternal Mental Health in Low- and Middle-Income Countries.
